Central Learning Adult School Site

All CNA candidates must take the 5-week Jobs First for Nursing training before enrolling in the school’s nurse assistant program. The prerequisite course prepares students for jobs in the nursing field with topics that cover workplace ethics, dress, interview process and resume building. CLASS’s Certified Nursing Assistant training is a six-week course that prepares students for the state board’s exam to obtain a license. Students learn nursing principles and procedures over a 2-week period in the classroom and put their learning into practice with 4 weeks of hands-on training in a clinical setting. The cost of tuition and textbooks is $235. As part of the application process, all prospective students must submit the results of TB testing and a physical exam at the time of registration.

WestMed’s six-week, 16-unit module NA Certificate Program includes in-classroom theory supplemented with the clinical experience and patient care training according to the federal and state requirements. Students obtain the skills required to perform nursing roles and responsibilities, manage common legal and ethical issues, understand how the healthcare system works, communicate effectively as part of a team, and respond effectively to emergencies.

Fresno Adult School

Fresno Adult School offers a number of training options to meet the needs of adult learners in the Fresno community. One such program is the yearly Certified Virtual Assistant training. The entire program runs for 9 months. Students attend all-day sessions from Tuesday to Friday. After completion of the classroom training, students complete an externship at a local facility. Clovis Adult School

The nurse assistant program at Clovis Adult School offers classroom instruction and clinical experience where students learn vital signs, resident care skills, nutrition, rehabilitation and emergency procedures among other topics. Successful graduates are eligible to take the state competency exam for certification and licensure. The 14-week program costs $550 for tuition and $20 for malpractice insurance. Other costs students need to budget for include textbooks, totes, uniforms, arm patches, nursing shows and exam fee. Applicants must submit proof of Hepatitis B immunization, results of a TB skin test and medical exam. They must also submit proof of Basic Life Support with application. Persons with prior criminal convictions cannot enroll in the program unless they have a written copy of criminal clearance.
